AAE announces their recommendations regarding COVID-19

The American Association of Endodontists also recommend emergency dental care only

by KEVIN KUO, DDS, MMSc | March 17, 2020

Following the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists follow-suit with their recommendations to its members regarding COVID-19. The AAE states:

We agree with the CDC as well as professional organizations such as the ADA in recommending postponement of non-urgent oral health care for up to three weeks. Examples of urgent conditions requiring oral health care may include severe dental pain, abscess with lymphadenopathy, or a dental infection-related fever.

Author Commentary: It is interesting how strict the definition of emergency care is according to the AAE. For instance, moderate dental pain and abscess without systemic spread is not considered urgent enough to treat at the moment.
